Sleaford Mods performed their recently released The Prodigy remix of ‘Elitist G.O.A.T.’ at the opening night of Electric Castle 2026.
Slotting the track into the closing section of their set, the Acid Thunder remix formed part of a riotous end to their hour-long set and was followed with ‘Jobseeker,’ early favourite ‘Tied Up In Nottz’ and ‘Tweet Tweet Tweet’ in quick succession.
Earlier in their set Sleaford Mods performed a cover of Pet Shop Boys’ 1986 classic, ‘West End Girls.’ The cover has become a staple of the Mods gigs in recent years with the duo first performing it in 2023.
The post-punk group were followed on the Romanian festival’s Hangar stage by Kneecap who delivered a headliner-worthy set on the Hangar stage, performing songs this year’s album ‘FENIAN’ plus fan favourites ‘H.O.O.D.’ and ‘Get Your Brits Out’.
Reviewing day two of Electric Castle 2026, NME wrote: “Sleaford Mods’ hour-long set was shaped heavily by this year’s The Demise of Planet X, with ‘Megaton’ and ‘No Touch’ making for early highlights. Williamson was self-deprecating about ‘Bad Santa’, telling fans “If you want a pint now is the time” but anyone taking a FIFA-style hydration break around the 20 minute mark would have missed a touching and melancholic song referencing doomscrolling, the Tate Modern and cancelled comedian Dapper Laughs. ”
Sleaford Mods first dropped The Prodigy remix of ‘Elitist G.O.A.T’ in April. The original version of the song appears on the pair’s latest album, ‘The Demise of Planet X’, and features additional vocals from Aldous Harding.
“Who could ask for more? A Prodigy Remix for ‘Elitist G.O.A.T’ that turns it into another tune entirely,” Mods’ frontman Jason Williamson said at the time of its release. “I can’t believe it.”
Electric Castle 2026 takes place from July 16-20 with sets due from an eclectic array of international stars including The Cure, Twenty One Pilots, Wet Leg, Teddy Swims and Chase & Status.
