Bodies of Water follows Paez's 2024 debut Silent Stories and uses water as both a metaphor and an emotional thread, exploring life through its movement, stillness, and unpredictability — particularly drawing inspiration from Iceland's landscapes and experiences of grief, resilience, reflection and renewal. New single “Ocean” is a neo-classical piece that Paez wrote while reading Hemingway's 1952 book The Old Man and the Sea, drawing on the beauty and power of the sea with a piano melody and string arrangements. The track follows previously released songs “Waterfall” and “Pond”, which features harpist Lara Somogyi. “When I first heard the string arrangements played by real people it brought tears to my eyes,” Paez says of the song. “Nothing can compare to that feeling of hearing the music come alive in the room.” Bodies of Water was written between Iceland and Berlin and features additional collaborations with Miguel Murrieta Vásquez and Evan Gildersleeve. The songs are formed by contemporary neo-classical composition with ambient textures subtle electronic elements, expanding on the sound laid out by Paez's debut.
