Soundgarden Reunite For Seahawks Season Opener, Tour Rumored

Wednesday night, Soundgarden reunited during halftime at the Seahawks' season opener, playing the New England Patriots, at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. The performance was not aired, but lucky fans at the stadium got to see original members Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd, and Matt Cameron take the stage with the Pretty Reckless' Taylor Momsen and Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, who also performed the game's national anthem.The group played "Outshined" from 1991's Badmotorfinger and "Spoonman" from 1994's Superunknown. It was the first time since April 2017, a month before frontman Chris Cornell passed away, that the group performed the latter. Over the years, Soundgarden has reunited on a few occasions, with Momsen taking over lead vocals. She first performed with the group at a 2019 Chris Cornell tribute, then at a 2022 Taylor Hawkins tribute, and again at the band's Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction last year. Soundgarden also performed with Brandi Carlile on lead vocals at the Gorge in 2021.This makes for an interesting development, or maybe foreshadowing, in regards to whispers about Soundgarden possibly reuniting next year.
