We haven't heard from Seattle's Spiral XP since their 2024 full-length debut, I Wish I Was A Rat. The band is back today, announcing a new lineup and a forthcoming EP titled Blue Earth.
One of Spiral XP's earliest releases was a collaborative EP with TV Star, and that group's guitarist Che Hise-Gattone and vocalist/drummer Bryan Coats have joined Spiral XP. The EP was produced with JooJoo Ashworth (SASAMI, Automatic).
About the title track, which is out now, Lena Farr-Morrissey says, "I wrote the 'Blue Earth' lyrics in the van after the tornado; it was my way of processing what happened." Then Hise-Gattone came to the studio with the riff. "It was this very vibrant, loud riff, and I was like, 'This feels tornado-y, so maybe those go together,'" Farr-Morrissey recalls.
