Fans have shared their reactions to the new teaser for Squid Game season two.

The hit Netflix K-drama is due to premiere later this year, and ahead of its release the streamer has teased fans with a brief clip.

In it, we see a number of players’ numbers flash across the screen, before focusing on 456 – aka Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) – who turns to look at the camera.

The text then reads: “The real game begins.”

Fans on social media have shared their excitement following the teaser, one writing: “Ooohhhhh, we are so back!!!”

“Yesss, season one was amazing,” another wrote, while a third asked of Gi-hun’s return to his dark hair look: “What happened to the red hair?”

Writing on YouTube, one user said: “I miss the old cast. At least Gi-Hun is still with us,” while another added: “‘The REAL game begins’. Yes, THAT is how you truly psyche people up for Season two!”

Season two’s release date of December 26 was announced earlier this month, alongside the news that the show had been renewed for a third and final season.

The new episodes will continue the story of Gi-hun, the winner at the end of season one, as the character becomes “determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport”.

Gi-hun uses his winnings to “fund his search” as he realises “the path toward taking down the organisation proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it”.

Show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has also released a letter to fans, in which he addressed the show’s final two seasons.

“I am thrilled to see the seed that was plated in created a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, show star Wi Ha-joon recently teased his character Hwang Jun-ho’s role in the second season, revealing that the police officer will have “his own story in here”.
