A number of Star Wars Outlaws players who had early access to the title have reportedly been asked to restart the game.
Star Wars Outlaws releases this Friday, August 30 but a number of players already have early access. From August 27, those that pre-ordered the Gold or Ultimate Editions of the game were allowed full access to Star Wars Outlaws.
The Gold Edition of Star Wars Outlaws would have set players back £94.99, with the Ultimate Edition costing £114.99. Both versions also give players access to a season pass alongside other pre-order bonuses.
However, late last night (August 27) it was reported by several PlayStation 5 users that they’d been emailed by Ubisoft, asking them to restart their game due to a bug. “To best experience the Outer Rim, we rolled out a maintenance [update] to make sure everyone is playing the latest version of the game. As one of the players affected who had access to an older version of the game, we are aware you might be encountering some issues after this recent patch. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

The email then gave players instructions on how to check which version of the game they were playing. “Once you’ve confirmed you have the latest version, please start a new save to fully enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as our team intended. If you continue on a prior save, you will unfortunately face issues and progression blockers.”

This has angered a lot of players, who’ve essentially had one of their three early access days wasted, and their progression lost.
“Patient gamers stay winning,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “All you’re doing by waiting is opting out of the QA/Beta Testing period that now comes in the first 6 months after a game’s launch,” said another.
Earlier this year, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was pulled one hour into its Early Access launch due to major technical issues while the first month of Helldivers 2 saw developers trying to fix server issues.
Star Wars Outlaws is also dividing opinions within the gaming community as well, with the title getting a range of different review scores.
