Stranger Things: The First Shadow Gets Broadway Premiere Date: How to Buy Tickets

The hit Netflix show, Stranger Things, is heading to Broadway.

In March 2025, a play titled Stranger Things: The First Shadow will premiere at the Great White Way’s Marquis Theatre, transporting audiences to the town of Hawkins in 1959 for a prequel story featuring characters like Jim Hopper, Joyce Byers, Bob Newby, and more.

What Is Stranger Things: The First Shadow?

Written by Kate Trefry and directed by Stephen Daldry, Stranger Things: The First Shadow is a prequel story set in the Stranger Things universe. According to its press release, the show will give audiences a glimpse into the town of Hawkins in 1959, “before the world turned upside down.”

“Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously, and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town,” the press release explains. ‘When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.”

Beyond its story, Stranger Things: The First Shadow is also set to be a technical feat with “stunning special effects.” After it premiered on London’s West End last year, the show even took home the Olivier Awards for Best Entertainment and Best Set Design.

How Can I Buy Tickets to See Stranger Things: The First Shadow on Broadway?

Tickets for Stranger Things: The First Shadow first became available through a pre-sale offered to Mastercard holders, allowing tickets to be purchased through the play’s website beginning Tuesday, September 17th (use access code HENRY).

After the Mastercard pre-sale closes, tickets will then become available for the general public via the play’s website, with those purchasing prior to September 30th receiving a special offer: a free 30-day subscription to Netflix (only redeemable for new Netflix members).

Once tickets are on sale, fans can look for deals or get tickets to sold-out shows via StubHub, where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

What Are the Performance Dates for Stranger Things: The First Shadow on Broadway?

Hosted at Broadway’s Marquis Theatre, Stranger Things: The First Shadow will begin preview performances on Friday, March 28th, 2025, and will officially open on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025.
