Taylor Swift has made a major donation to non-profit organization Feeding America to aid in recovery efforts from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. According to Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the $5 million donation will go assist in essential food and water distribution.
“Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead,” Babineaux-Fontenot said in a statement. “Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.”
Hurricane Helene decimated parts of North Carolina, Georgia, and East Tennessee, while Florida is set to receive the brunt of incoming Hurricane Milton. Swift is not the only artist stepping up to assist in recovery efforts: Dolly Parton also led a $5 million donation towards relief efforts in partnership with Walmart, while Metallica’s Foundation offered $100,000.
Meanwhile, multiple benefit shows are in the works, including one concert from Sturgill Simpson, another from Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings, and James Taylor, and a third from Ben Folds and Goose.
Earlier this week, Swift was crowned the richest female musician and now stands only behind Jay-Z among the richest musicians in the world.
Thank you, @taylorswift13, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and helping communities in need in the wake of #HurricaneHelene and #HurricaneMilton.
