"I’m fine/ Actually, nevermind/ Rememberin’ why I was mad." That's how Lizzie Killian starts off "I Do," the new single from her Raleigh-based project Teens In Trouble. Relatable! Killian's music is somewhere between pop-funk and fuzzed-out garage rock, and "I Do" is a great example of what she does.
The last Teens In Trouble album was 2024's What's Mine, and PUP frontman Stefan Babcock guested on opening track "You Don't Want To Mess With Me." Last year, Teens In Trouble had a couple of tracks on a split with Bat Boy. The band recorded the new single "I Do" with PUP collaborator Dave Schiffman. Lizzie Killian co-wrote it with Bat Boy's Hannah Eagle, who also adds backing vocals. It's a one-off for now, but we'll probably get more Teens In Trouble music soon.
In a press release, Killian says, "This is a friendship breakup song. I'd convinced myself I was over it until a mutual friend asked me about the situation over brunch. As I started to explain what happened, I found myself getting heated and realizing that maybe I wasn’t actually over it after all." In the Aja Pop-directed video, Killian goes to war in a boxing match. Check it out below.
