The Ainsworth in Phoenix Allegedly Double Books Cray’s Show

After the Friday incident at Cray’s show at The Ainsworth, Arizona promoter Eleventh House canceled MADDS’ show on Saturday night.

The Ainsworth in Phoenix allegedly double booked an event headlined by Cray with that of a different and incompatible promoter on Friday.

On Saturday morning, DJ and producer Kayzo (real name Hayden Capuozzo — who just got engaged to Cray (real name Cheney Ray) — aired his grievances with the venue over X. “Last night Cheney had a show and we all went out to support,” he wrote. “I’ve NEVER in my entire career seen something so shady and weird but the club apparently double booked 2 shows & one was a frat and told her to basically fuck off and can’t play because they don’t want dance music.”

In a reply tweet, Capuozzo recounted that the promoters “ARGUED about it right in front of her and her family” and said that it upset him to “see her and other artists treated so poorly.” Another music fan also replied, saying that they saw one of the entrants bring a dog inside the venue.

Eleventh House, the promoter of the Friday event, addressed what happened on Friday in a statement. “Unfortunately, last night, the venue double booked 2 shows with 2 different genres,” it reads. “Despite trying to work it out so everyone would be satisfied, we ended up unintentionally making a lot of people unhappy. I assure you what happened was beyond my control.”

The statement goes on to say that a different promoter “ended up dictating the shows program after multiple assurances it would stay intact” in addition to allowing in both “2 legged and 4 legged” patrons. “Despite the fact that I had no control over what happened, I want to apologize to Cray, her friends, and family,” it reads.

The Eleventh House statement says that refund information will be provided to the attendees who showed up to see Cray in the coming days. It also said that the outfit had canceled its Saturday party headlined by MADDS “until we can clear things up with the venue.”
