The record takes its cues from the slippery way advertising and brand nostalgia embed themselves in personal history. In a statement, the band described arriving at the album’s world by “revisiting imagery and jingles from childhood and realising how profoundly they have stuck … Taking these sound sources from within the heart of this kinda corporate framework and flipping the fragments into our own kind of joyous pop music.” “Can’t Get Over Losing You” features vocals from Portraits of Tracy, a self-taught producer and multi-instrumentalist from Baton Rouge. Robbie Chater, who also produced the record, said of the collaboration: “Tracy’s production and mixing is insane but it’s her voice and songwriting that break my heart time after time, truly a generational talent.” Portraits of Tracy added: “We started the song in 2024 and rerecorded it / finished it in 2025, and now she just sounds lovely!” The single is the fourth preview of No Bad Memories, following “Blue Shadows” with Karen O, the Jamie xx collaboration “Every Single Weekend”, and “Together” featuring Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza, and Prentiss.
