The Cure – “A Fragile Thing”

1 month ago 13

We are so, so close to the release of Songs Of A Lost World, the first new album from the Cure since 2008. The legendary band already shared the LP’s genuinely stunning opening track “Alone,” and they’ve teased the new tracks “Endsong” and “A Fragile Thing,” but those teasers were frustratingly short. Today, we get to hear “A Fragile Thing” in full.

Much like “Alone,” “A Fragile Thing” is a lush, expansive rocker that evokes the deep, dank feelings of the Cure’s masterpiece Disintegration. “A Fragile Thing” has been a live staple since the Cure debuted the song almost two years ago, though the layered, fleshed-out studio version hits different. Robert Smith sings about how two people can be completely isolated from one another, no matter what they might feel for each other, while bass and guitars and and pianos churn all around his still-remarkable voice. Good song! Listen below.

Songs Of A Lost World is out 11/1.
