Much-beloved British comedy series The Inbetweeners is set to make a comeback in the form of a Netflix reunion movie. According to a new report from Variety, the original core cast of Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley are understood to be attached. The news comes less than a year after rights holders Banijay UK revealed that it had struck a deal with show creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley and their Fudge Park Productions that, at the time, they said “paves the way for the return of the hit comedy title”. When news first emerged, Morris and Beesley said it was “incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends)”. At the time, however, it was unknown in what shape or form the return would look like. Originally broadcast on E4 in the UK, the much-loved sitcom followed Will MacKenzie (Bird) through various struggles with school, family, fitting in and finding a girlfriend, with his many failures always laughed at by friends Simon Cooper (Thomas), Neil Sutherland (Harrisson) and Jay Cartwright (Buckley). ‘The Inbetweeners’ defined an era of teenagers.
