These are the games that will get PS5 Pro upgrades at launch

As well as confirming the launch of the PlayStation 5 Pro, Sony have revealed what games will make use of the console’s new tech at launch.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is set to launch November 7 and will feature a trio of new features that will help make the console the “the most visually impressive way to play games on PlayStation”, with the Pro described as Sony’s “most advanced and innovative console hardware to date”.

The Pro will feature advanced ray tracing, AI-driven upscaling and an upgraded GPU that will increase rendering speeds by up to 45 per cent.

And to make full use of this new tech, Sony has worked with a number of different developers to create a series of free patches that will help games “take advantage” of the upgraded console.

“These games can be identified with a PS5 Pro Enhanced label within their title,” said Sony. Some of these updates will include a frame rate boost from 30fps to 60fps, while others will be more substantial, with Horizon Forbidden West benefiting from improved lighting and visual effects alongside enhanced graphics in cinematics (via Eurogamer).

As it stands, 13 titles have been confirmed to receive the free PS5 Pro Enhanced patch to coincide with the console’s launch. Check out the full list below:

Alan Wake 2
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
Demon’s Souls
Dragon’s Dogma 2
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Gran Turismo 7
Hogwarts Legacy
Horizon Forbidden West
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
The Crew Motorfest
The First Descendant
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered

The official blog teased that “more” titles would be added to that list, while PlayStation’s lead system architect Mark Cerny told CNET that “about 40 or 50 or games” will get PS5 Pro upgrade patches when the console launches this autumn.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is due to launch November 7 for a recommended retail price of £699.99. Pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 Pro will go live September 26 via the PlayStation store, while other retailers will be opening pre-orders on October 10.

In other news, Microsoft’s new Xbox Game Pass tier system has gone live, with more than 40 games now only available via the most expensive subscription.
