‘This is fine’ dog meme being turned into a video game

The creator of the “This is fine” dog meme has confirmed he’s spinning it into a video game titled This is Fine: Maximum Cope.

Question Hound, the proper name of the viral star, was created by comic book artist KC Green and first hit the internet in 2013 before blowing up the following year. The On Fire edition of the Gunshow comic strip sees the dog sitting calmly at a table, coffee mug in hand, as the room burns around him. “This is fine,” Question Hound says.

We passed it a couple days ago, but it has been 10 years since "On Fire", the strip I did that became the meme "this is fine". https://t.co/AxZxDYkICs pic.twitter.com/STFYX4XS9B

The meme has become a go-to response to any and all bad news that’s been shared in recent years, while official Question Hound merch is also available. And now a video game could be on the way. Earlier this week (September 18), KC Green announced he had partnered with Numskull Games for the project.

Folks… @NumskullGames and I are makin' a game. And we'd like to ask for your help: https://t.co/2ly2r5oGyp pic.twitter.com/nJofVhesEq

According to the Kickstarter campaign, This is Fine: Maximum Cope will be “a charming platformer where our beloved character faces off against the manifestations of his fears and anxieties.”

The “classic, old-school, platformer game” will see Question Hound “dive deep into his subconscious to fight the monsters and demons we all similarly have running around our brain. The kind of creatures that feed off of the fear and anxiety of every day living! Question Hound has had enough, and you should too,” Green explained.

“Help him keep the waves of depression at bay! And shine a light on his darkest fears! Maybe we all might learn some kind of coping skills along the way? Or at least have a rad game to enjoy for a brief respite,” he continued. “Either way, please consider helping us make this project come to life when it launches!”

The Kickstarter campaign for This Is Fine: Maximum Cope goes live September 26, with a release date yet to be announced.

Speaking about the success of the meme, Green told The Verge: “It’s a feeling we all have, apparently. It’s a feeling we all get of, just like, ‘Things are burning down around me, but you got to have smile sometimes.’ It’s a basic human [feeling], ‘Well, what are you going to do?'”
