Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner is reportedly in negotiations to lead Amazon Prime Video‘s upcoming Tomb Raider series.

In May, Amazon Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios announced that a new Tomb Raider series was in development with video game developer Crystal DynamicsPhoebe Waller-Bridge will write and executive produce for the series.

Now, per a Deadline report, Turner is in active negotiations to lead the series as the titular hero Lara Croft. Should Turner land the role, she’ll be just the third person ever to bring the character to life in a live-action setting. Angelina Jolie first played the character in two Tomb Raider films the early 2000s, followed by Alicia Vikander in 2018.

Currently, no details surrounding Waller-Bridge’s adaptation have been revealed.

Waller-Bridge previously said of her involvement in the show: “If I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she’d explode. Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all.”

Turner’s potential involvement in the series was first reported in October, when it was revealed that she was among one of the actors who had auditioned for the part.

On the personal front, Turner recently opened up about her divorce from Joe Jonas. The former couple, who had been together for eight years and married for four, announced their separation in 2023.

In October last year, the pair came to an “amicable solution” in their custody battle, agreeing that the children “will spend time equally in loving homes in both the US and the UK.” Turner is currently starring in British crime drama limited series Joan on ITVX.

Most recently, the Netflix anime series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft premiered in October and saw the legendary character voiced by Hayley Atwell.
