Kami Carpenter was one of the men convicted of murder for slaying Cody Fisher at CRANE. His mother and aunt now also face charges.

Kami Carpenter‘s mother and aunt — Jahzeen Carpenter and Nadine Taylor, respectively — have been charged with helping him avoid imprisonment for his role in the murder of Cody Fisher at Birmingham nightclub CRANE in 2022.

Back in March, Kami Carpenter and Remy Gordon were convicted of murdering Fisher during the Boxing Day 2022 incident. The Birmingham Crown Court sentenced them both life in prison the following month. A third man, Reegan Anderson, was sentenced to 18 months for the lesser charge of affray, or public fighting.

Carpenter’s mother and aunt were not previously named as defendants in the case. On Tuesday, however, the Dudley-based pair appeared in front of magistrates on charges of assisting an offender. They have since been released on bail.

Fisher was a semi-pro footballer who taught physical education in schools. His girlfriend, Jess Chatwin, and best friend, Dan Vann, had both accompanied him to the crowded event at CRANE headlined by Marco Carola on the night of the incident.

According to court documents, Fisher brushed past Gordon at one point. The same night, Gordon sent messages in a Snapchat group chat announcing his plans to confront Fisher and “shank him up,” and he and Fisher also discussed how to smuggle masks and weapons into Crane. They beat and stabbed him, puncturing the main valve of his heart, and Fisher was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

No details of Jahzeen Carpenter and Nadine Taylor’s involvement after the fact have found their way to the public at the time of writing. The two are set to appear in front of the Wolverhampton Crown Court on October 8.
