Warning, not to be confused with Mexican rock trio The Warning, have returned after 20 years away with a new record titled Rituals of Shame, out June 19th via Relapse Records. You can watch a visualizer for their new single “Stations” down below.
The UK doom metal legends’ second album, 2006’s Watching from a Distance, is widely considered one of the best records in the genre’s now roughly half-century lifespan.
Warning have additionally announced a string of European festival appearances and tour dates in support of the new material.
The group has released “Stations” as the first single from the album. It’s nearly 10-minute runtime shows the doom band, led by Patrick Walker (who has been keeping himself busy with 40 Watt Sun since the close of Warning’s first run), back fully in their element.
It’s a sweeping and melancholic song, focused on mournful balladry and emotional heaviness over heavily distorted riffs. Those familiar with the group will feel at home immediately while newcomers will see fast why the British band has achieved the acclaim they have.
Walker said, “Whether you’re among those who have been waiting for this for 20 years, or whether you’re new to my music, it is with great pleasure and some relief, that I can finally give you a taste of the album that will follow later in the year. I wrote and recorded the entire record throughout 2025.”
Walker cited the album influences as British folk singer June Tabor and US doom metal group Revelation. Also noted by Walker was British prog icons Marillion.
