Michael Kiwanuka has shared a new music video for ‘One And Only’, directed by Barack Obama‘s daughter Malia – watch it below.

Yesterday (November 26), Kiwanuka shared the video, which is helmed by Malia Obama, who professionally goes by Malia Ann. It marks her music video directorial debut.

In the newly launched video, a woman chases another lady through the woods and eventually catches up to her. When they finally come face-to-face, it’s revealed that the woman she was chasing is actually an alternate version of herself.

Watch the music video for Michael Kiwanuka’s ‘One And Only’ below.

‘One And Only’ marks the fourth single to be released from Kiwanuka’s new album ‘Small Changes’. Previously, Kiwanuka has released ‘Lowdown’ Parts I and II, ‘Floating Parade‘, ‘The Rest Of Me’ and ‘Rebel Soul’ in anticipation of the album.

The music video also marks Malia Ann’s latest directorial work. Last year, she released her debut, the short film The Heart, made in collaboration with Donald Glover‘s Gilga imprint. Prior to that, she has been credited as a writer on Amazon Prime Video’s Swarm series.

The Heart won Malia Ann the Young Spirit award at this year’s Deauville Film Festival, and was also screened at Telluride and Toronto International Film Festival in addition to its Sundance premiere.

In a four-star review of Michael Kiwanuka’s ‘Small Changes’, Fred Garratt-Stanley wrote for NME: “Unlike ‘Kiwanuka’, this album doesn’t keep you guessing. Rather than punching you in the face with a barrage of beauty, it softly rolls pockets of magic into your path. Yet, the softness of its approach does nothing to lessen the impact of Kiwanuka’s long-awaited return.”

Kiwanuka has also announced an intimate UK tour just before he embarks on his UK and European headline tour in February 2025. Get your tickets to the intimate tour here.
