Weezer Break Out Live Rarities At The Gathering Tour Kickoff

A couple of weeks ago, alt-rock institution Weezer released the Gold Album, which they recorded with producers Kenneth Blume and Klas Åhlund. Every new Weezer album seems like it's partly an excuse to kick off another big tour, and another big tour is now underway. For the next month and a half, Weezer will hit arenas across America on their Gathering tour, which also includes openers the Shins and Silversun Pickups. (They'll bring another version to Europe with Taking Back Sunday next year.) The tour started on Tuesday night at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center, and Weezer's set included a bunch of songs that they haven't played live in a long time.Weezer played all the hits that you'd expect as part of last night's 26-song set. They also brought back songs like the Maladroit tracks "Keep Fishin'" and "Slob," the Pinkerton deep cut "No Other One," and Everything Will Be Alright In The End's "Lonely Girl," all of which have been absent from their shows for many years. Their stage set was made to look like a suburban house, and they switched instruments for a few tracks in the middle of the set.
