The White House has come under fire for using a Bad Bunny track in promotional videos for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). A video posted Thursday (July 30) to the White House’s TikTok account features Bad Bunny’s ‘DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS’ track ‘La Mudanza’. The song plays out over spliced up footage of ICE detaining undocumented men and women, and features the lyric: “Un aplauso para mami y papi porque en verdad rompieron”, (“A round of applause for mom and dad, because they really crushed it”). Text over top of the clip read: “A round of applause for Donald J. Trump because he really crushed it,” and was captioned: “We’re making America great again.” Many fans taken issue with their use of the track, given Bad Bunny has been an outspoken critic of ICE. Last year, when he was confirmed to be playing the Super Bowl halftime show, he came under personal attack from the MAGA movement, and Trump called the decision to have him headline “crazy”, claiming that he had “never heard” of him.
