At some point on Saturday night, Justin Bieber will take the Coachella Stage and may (or may not) perform “Baby.” But in no world will it be better than the garage rock rendition Geese served up during their own Coachella set on Saturday afternoon. A recording of Geese’s Bieber cover has existed on the web for a few years now, but their Saturday Coachella set marked the first time the New York rockers had performed the 2010 pop bop live in concert. Coming as part of a mashup with “2112,” their cover mixed Winter’s cascading croons with pulverizing guitars, and it absolutely ruled.
Elsewhere during their set, Geese ran through all the gems from 3D Country and Getting Killed, including “I See Myself,” “100 Horses,” “Au Pays Du Cocaine,” and “Taxes.”
Geese have a busy spring and summer ahead on the festival circuit, including appearances confirmed at Governors Ball in New York and Bonnaroo in Tennessee, and Lollapalooza in Chicago.
