Zedd in the Park Was Its Own Mini Festival

Zedd in the Park was a phenomenal two-day experience for fans packed with top-tier production and nostalgic tunes.

Zedd in the Park has become a summer sensation since its debut in 2018. This year, it returned to Los Angeles State Historic Park on September 6-7 in partnership with Insomniac. For its fourth edition, the event offered an eclectic lineup featuring notable artists and more to explore.

I had always wanted to check out Zedd in the Park, and friends have spoken highly of it. With the recent arrival of Zedd’s latest album, Telos, the timing couldn’t be better for Zedd to throw this massive spectacle. When I was able to attend this year, I knew I had to experience it for myself.

Braving the heat, I arrived at the venue for the second day of Zedd in the Park and immediately visited the site activations.

Brands were prevalent throughout the venue. Google created a playground for attendees to let out their inner child. Celsius was on-site, offering free energy drinks. Jack Daniels hosted two activations with bars and lounges for fans to relax. Various games and activities were sprinkled throughout the park, like a mechanical shark, many photo opportunities, and mini golf, complete with Zedd’s face near one of the holes.

The VIP area presented many offerings, such as a photo booth, exclusive food trucks not found elsewhere in the venue, a concierge, small freebies, a commemorative laminate, tables to sit at, and closer viewing opportunities. While there was plenty of space to maneuver in VIP earlier in the night, the area had become incredibly packed when Zedd came on. It wasn’t easy to exit the crowd and find a space to breathe in the heat of the evening. If the same number of tickets were sold for VIP at the next edition, I would love to see the viewing area expanded a bit.

Electric melodies bumped throughout the evening, with artists like San Holo, Ellis, Grey, and Mesto dominating the decks.

Both nights of Zedd in the Park offered different lineups yet similar experiences. Friday night featured the likes of Madeon and Party Pupils, while Saturday night looked to San Holo and Throttle for exclusive beats. When I took my place near the front of VIP, a b2b2b featuring Ellis, Grey, and Mesto had taken the stage. The trio kicked the venue’s energy up a notch, playing everything from dancefloor smashers to sprinkles of bass. The crowd caught a vibe from their infectious energy behind the decks.

San Holo further uplifted our spirits, rinsing classics like “lift me from the ground,” “We Rise,” and “Light” among new favorites and remixes. Attendees especially went wild for San Holo’s bass-heavy remix of Tupac, Roger, and Dr. Dre’s “California Love,” which he stated he made especially for this show. Vibes were high as excitement built, and fans were ready to meet the man of the evening.

Through mind-blowing production and beats that kept delivering, Zedd’s set is one that will be talked about long after the event.

For many dance music lovers, Zedd was one of their favorite DJs when first exploring the scene. Through a roster of iconic releases that still have a place in fans’ hearts, to his latest ventures in Telos, Zedd continues to evoke nostalgia and remain prominent. It’s refreshing to see an artist staying true to their sound and not feeling the need to hop on current industry trends, and Telos was all about pursuing this mantra.

Zedd played a collection of new releases and a roster of fan favorites to create a truly timeless performance. Singers like Bea Miller, Remi Wolf, and Bava appeared to belt out their collaborations with Zedd featured on Telos. Many beloved tracks were performed throughout the set, like “Break Free” with Ariana Grande, “I Want You To Know” with Selena Gomez, “Beautiful Now” with Jon Bellion, “Stay The Night” with Hayley Williams, and, of course, “Clarity” with Foxes.

Zedd in the Park’s production was unmatched as well. From a complex stage design to a flurry of lasers and more, Zedd made sure to pull out all the stops for the event’s fourth edition. He even hopped on a drum set, infusing live instruments into the evening. After the show ended with his final encore of “Clarity,” I couldn’t believe what I had witnessed, and any expectations were blown out of the water.

The event’s festivities aligned perfectly to create a memorable Zedd in the Park experience.

From entertaining activities to freebies, music, and more, Zedd and his team concocted what I’m sure is the best Zedd in the Park yet. There was surely something for every dance music lover to participate in and enjoy. Zedd performed a range of his best hits mixed with recent releases from Telos, catering to fans who may be seeing him for the first time or the twentieth.

I appreciated the diversity of the evening and all of the thought put into Zedd in the Park. If you’re looking to experience Zedd’s latest set, be sure to catch him now on the Telos US Tour!
