A 9-year-old girl who goes by the name K8 (as in “Kate) delivers a crushing performance of Slipknot’s “Heretic Anthem” in the latest video posted by the O’Keefe Music Foundation.
Following a cute-as-hell countdown of “Eight, seven, six, six, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero” by 3-year-old Eliza, a band made of musicians aged 8 through 17 launches into the Slipknot classic. A few seconds in, K8 lets out a blood-curdling scream that would surely make Corey Taylor proud.
K8 maintains a powerful and intense vocal throughout the performance, which also includes an electrifying guitar solo from 12-year-old Xander.
While the O’Keefe Music Foundation just posted the video on YouTube, it was likely filmed a couple of years ago. K8 now appears to be a few years older, as she fronts the band K8 & The Crushers. In addition to singing, she also plays a mean guitar and bass these days.
It’s not the first time the O’Keefe Music Foundation has shared a video of a young girl performing Slipknot’s “Heretic Anthem.” Two years ago, 10-year-old Zoë fronted a cover of the blistering track off the 2001 album Iowa.
The O’Keefe Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization that offers free music lessons, free music camps, free recording sessions, and free music videos to young musicians. More information can be found at its official website.
