Following a “medical incident” at Boomtown Festival 2024, a man in his 20s died in Royal Hampshire County Hospital.

A man in his 20s who attended the 2024 edition of Boomtown Festival at the Matterly Estate near Winchester, UK that ran from August 7-11 has died of unspecified causes.

According to local police reports, the “medical incident” occurred on the evening of Saturday, August 10. The man was taken by ambulance to Royal Hampshire County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the early hours of August 11.

Police were notified of a reported medical incident onsite at Boomtown which occurred between 8pm and 9pm on Saturday 10 August,” police said, according the BBC. “The man’s next of kin have been notified of this unexpected death.”

Festival organizers issued a statement as well. “With sadness, we confirm a man in his 20s died on the evening of Saturday, August 10 after attending Boomtown,” it reads. “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all those who knew him. We are supporting the police with their enquiries, and with respect for his family, no further comment will be made.”

Boomtown Festival inaugurated in 2009, first taking place at the Speech House in Gloucestershire and relocating to its current site in 2011. Electronic music features heavily on its lineups; this year’s 60,000-strong event billed artists such as Octo Octa, Ross From Friends, Pendulum, and SHERELLE.

Between 2011 and 2016, four deaths had been connected to various editions of Boomtown Festival, according to The Mirror. The festival’s website says that its organizers “do not have a ‘Zero Tolerance’ to drugs” but instead work with harm reduction organizations to “focus on the ‘Four P’s’ – (Prevent, Protect, Prepare, Pursue).

We here at EDM Identity offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man who died at Boomtown Festival 2024 during what can only be a difficult time.
