Comedians Aaron Branch (Netflix’s Unstable, Millenials) and Danny Dunn (“Have You Checked Behind Your Ear?”, Red Show Blue Sh0w) join the latest episode of the Long Time No See: The Podcast. Listen to the hilarious episode above or wherever you get your podcasts, and you can also check out the full video below.
Branch and Dunn get into some hot takes throughout the episode — from advising clowning classes to touring with Dave Chappelle versus a Dave Chappelle impersonator — but mostly they reveal some less than prideful truths about themselves. Branch, for one, regrets the time he turned down an invitation from Dan Harmon after attending a taping of HarmonQuest.
“I waited in line and then I talked to him, and he was just so nice and so kind,” Branch recalls. “I was like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna do standup. I wanted to watch your thing, da da da.’ And then we talked and we laughed a lot. And then he was like, ‘Well, we’re gonna go get dinner. You wanna come?’ And I just had my mom’s voice popped in my head like, ‘Don’t go anywhere with strangers, and grown men.’ And so I was like, ‘No, but I’ll tweet you.’ I said that to Dan Harmon when I was 17 years old! I said, ‘I’ll tweet you.’ I tweeted him. He never responded.”
As for Dunn, the former footballer player with NFL receiver dreams recalls putting on 12 pounds of weight in three hours to make his college team. Only, five of those pounds were a weight plate. “So I have to kind of Ocean’s 11 my way and steal a weight from the weight room from next to his office,” he says. “And I grab it and then I go in the locker room and I put on my compression shorts; I take two of my buddies’ compression shorts, so I’m wearing three pairs of compression shorts. And then I put the weight into the front of my compression shorts. It’ll hold at that point. You need the elastic; shoutout to Adidas… So I go back and I get on the scale. He’s waiting for me and I get on the scale — I am one-ninety point zero, like exactly my weight.”
