Sony had a surprise in store for us all during its latest State of Play. That surprise was a brand new Marvel fighting game from Arc System Works: Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls. This 4v4 tag fighter is breaking from tradition in a number of ways, but one of those key differences is the roster.

Arc System Works has promised to have characters that fans expect from a Marvel fighting game, such as those that were core to Marvel vs. Capcom. But, they have also promised some new faces (one of which we have already seen) and some surprising additions. Here is the full roster confirmed so far.

There are eight confirmed Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls characters so far:

  • Captain America
  • Iron Man
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Spider-Man
  • Ghost Rider
  • Star-Lord
  • Dr. Doom
  • Storm

Captain America

Captain America is one of the faces of this game, alongside Iron Man, and his design here is one of the best we have ever seen. He appears to have a classic brawler/mixup playstyle that utilises his basic punches, kicks, and his shield.

Iron Man

Arc System Works has given Iron Man an incredible Japanese-inspired redesign. He will also utilise his Hulk-Buster suit as a part of one of his special/ultimate attacks.

Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel is appearing for the first time in a fighting game, and she is a long-ranged fighter, capable of using her powers to hit enemies from afar with her stretchy limbs.

Spider-Man can be seenCredit: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Spider-Man

You can’t have a Marvel game without Spider-Man. He can utilise his spidey sense and acrobatics to remain unpredictable and keep his opponents guessing.

Ghost-Rider can be seenCredit: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider is back, and he has all his classic attacks, weapons, and tools to cause absolute carnage.

Star-Lord can be seenCredit: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Star-Lord

Star-Lord is also here after appearing in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. He will utilise his blasters to deal elemental damage and special attacks alongside his other gadgets and tools.

Dr. Doom can be seenCredit: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Dr. Doom

Of course, Doom is here. The iconic Marvel fighting hero is back, and he looks as deadly as ever. He appears to act as a grappler of sorts. Oh, and Arc System Works also gave him a gun.

Storm can be seenCredit: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Storm

Storm makes a return to Marvel fighting games after skipping Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, and she looks incredible here. It’s a great realisation of her powers, and she is likely to be one of the main characters used online and offline.

Additionally, in the background of some stages, you can see mentions of other characters or models of them, including Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Dazzler, and Shuma-Gorath.
