Allison and Katie Crutchfield Unveil Debut Album as Snocaps: Stream

Katie Crutchfield, the creative force behind Waxahatchee, and her twin sister, Allison Crutchfield, have surprised released their self-titled debut album as Snocaps via ANTI- Records. It marks the first music the sisters have released together since their legendary P.S. Eliot days. Joining the Crutchfields on the new project are MJ Lenderman and Brad Cook. Listen to it below.

“Snocaps was born out of the twin sisters’ desire to work on music together as they had in their teens and twenties,” according to a press release, which describes the album as “an indie-rock record that recalls Allison’s band Swearin’ and Katie’s early records as Waxahatchee.” The album was produced and almost entirely engineered by Cook, and all four musicians play multiple instruments across the record.

Snocaps will play a handful of shows at the end of 2025 and then be put on ice for the foreseeable future, although, according to Katie, “Allison and I have been, in some way, shape or form, doing this together for over 20 years,” so it is practically a given that they will work together on music at some point again in the future.

Katie Crutchfield has been especially busy this month, as just last week Waxahatchee made its debut on the Austin City Limits series with a six-song set, that included her Tigers Blood track “Crowbar.”

She also appears on the upcoming Mavis Staples full-length, Sad and Beautiful World, which is produced by Cook and features fellow Snocap collaborator Lenderman among its litany of guest stars. The album is due out November 7th via ANTI-.
