Eminem may not have the same rabid fanbase he had at the height of his career in the early 2000s (well, he kinda does), but for those that weren’t around for the Eminem era, AMC has got you covered, as they’ll be releasing a new documentary centered around the rise of Slim Shady and the hardcore following he cultivated in the process.

According to Variety, AMC Theaters will be releasing the Eminem-inspired documentary Stans for a limited time next month from Aug. 7 to Aug. 10. Stans will take fans back to the time when Eminem was arguably the best rapper in Hip-Hop and paved the way for white rappers to gain the respect and success that they only dreamed of pre-Slim Shady. Though few white rappers have actually walked down that road, Em still sits atop of “The Greatest White Rapper Ever” mountain, and this documentary is sure to explain how and why he got there.

Variety reports:

Titled “Stans,” after the rapper’s hit song about an obsessive, unhinged superfan, the film will explore Eminem’s career through the eyes of his most devoted supporters. (Since the single’s release in 2000, the term “stan” has entered the lexicon — and was officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017 — as a word for an obsessed fan. However unlike the song’s message, it’s usually used now as a term of endearment.)

Set to release in 1600 theaters across the U.S., Stans is sure to drum up some big bucks at the box office though not to the tune of comic book movies or anything. Well, maybe Thunderbolts kind of box office receipts.

Directed by Steven Leckart, “Stans” was described in a press release as an examination of the “complicated relationship between one of the world’s most private artists and his massive public persona.” The filmmaker uses recreations, archival footage and new interviews to explore the highs and lows of Eminem’s career. The 15-time Grammy winner, for songs including “Lose Yourself,” “Without Me,” “Stan,” “Real Slim Shady” and “Love the Way You Lie,” served as a producer on “Stans” with Paul Rosenberg, Stuart Parr, Antoine Fuqua, Tony DiSanto, David Schiff.

Yeah, we’ll be catching this. AMC Theaters are known for their comfortable recliner seats, too.
