BABYMONSTER are set to drop a new single called ‘Drip’, co-written by Big Bang’s G-Dragon for their upcoming first studio album.

Today (October 8), YG Entertainment released a new video featuring the agency’s founder and producer Yang Hyun-suk introducing aspects of BABYMONSTER’s upcoming record release. The nine-track studio album will arrive on November 1 and be led by the single ‘Drip’.

In the video, Yang shared that ‘Drip’ featured an “unexpected” contributor in its credits. “Names of overseas topliners and YG producers… but the unexpected person is G-Dragon, who actually took part in the composition,” he said. “We were able to see a great outcome thanks to him.”

“This song is the most passionate and the most danceable music among all BABYMONSTER music. I don’t think anyone can resist dancing to this song,” the music executive added.

Yang then briefly introduced the seven new songs on the album, which includes their first unit track ‘Woke Up in Tokyo’ by Japanese members Ruka and Asa. The other two songs on the record are the previously released ‘Forever’ and a remix of their debut single ‘Batter Up’.

BABYMONSTER will also release “at least” three new music videos to accompany the record. The visual for title track ‘Drip’ will drop alongside the album on November 1, while the video for opening track ‘Click Clack’ will arrive three days ahead of the release.

Yang described ‘Click Clack’ as an “unexpected” track in which all seven members of the girl group rap rather than sing. “Even among YG hip-hop songs, I don’t think there’s one that goes this hip-hop,” he said. “It’s a hip-hop song with originality”.

In other K-pop news, aespa will soon be releasing their special ‘SYNK: Parallel Line’ EP, which will include the solo songs each member of the group have been performing on their ongoing tour. This comes weeks ahead of their upcoming return with their fifth mini-album ‘Whiplash’.
