London punk-rap duo Bob Vylan are back in the news after making incendiary onstage comments about prominent MAGA figure Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot last week while giving a speech in Utah.
During their show at Amsterdam’s Club Paradiso on Saturday, September 13th, frontman Bobby Vylan didn’t mince words while dedicating a song to the late right-wing political commentator, who once said, “It’s worth [the] cost” of “some gun deaths every single year” to have Second Amendment rights.
“I want to dedicate this next one to an absolute piece of shit of a human being. The pronouns: was/were,” Bobby Vylan said. “‘Cause if you talk shit, you will get banged. Rest in piss, Charlie Kirk, you piece of shit.”
Some reports characterized these comments as “celebrating” Kirk’s death, which prompted Bobby Vylan to post a video on Instagram responding to the criticism:
“Real quick. At no point during yesterday’s show was Charlie Kirk’s death celebrated. At no point whatsoever did we celebrate Charlie Kirk’s death. I did call him a piece of shit. That much is true. But at no point was his death celebrated. If it was, go find me a quote, go find me something that proves that we were celebrating his death. You’re going to find it because it didn’t happen.
What did happen is one reporter that bought their ticket online came with the sole purpose of finding something to report, and after I called him a piece of shit and we played a song, they have written that up as a celebration. Not a celebration, isn’t a celebration, wasn’t a celebration. Calm down.”
During that same show, Bob Vylan brought back the “Death to the IDF” chants from their controversial performance at Glastonbury 2025. According to De Telegraaf (via Stereogum), they added, “Fuck the Zionist[s]. Go find them in the streets.”
Paradiso has released a statement saying that while the venue “believes in the power of artistic freedom” and “shares the outrage and concern regarding the genocidal violence taking place in Gaza,” it will cooperate with any criminal investigations.
Bob Vylan’s latest “Death to the IDF” comments have led to their Tuesday show at Poppodium 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands, being canceled. In a statement, Poppodium 013 said that while it previously “expressed its understanding for the artist’s anger regarding the genocidal violence perpetrated by the State of Israel in Gaza,” the new comments “clearly cross a line.” The venue continued, “We strongly reject the trivialization of political murder and the call to ‘go look for people on the streets.'”
It’s worth noting that Bob Vylan previously shut down “Death to the IDF” chants from the audience during their first gig following their Glastonbury performance. The latter led to the Trump administration revoking their US visas and the UK police launching a criminal investigation.
