Breaking Benjamin have teased their first proper studio album in eight years with the release of a new single titled “Something Wicked.”

While the hit-making rock band released the album in Aurora in 2020, that LP was mostly a collection of reimagined hits from their past catalog. Breaking Benjamin’s last album of original material was 2018’s Ember.

“Something Wicked” features brooding Tool-inspired verses that explode into a bright and hopeful chorus. The track highlights frontman Benjamin Burnley’s strong vocals, with harsh screams and anthemic rock belting aplenty.

Burnley stated, “‘Something Wicked’ is a quick look into our influences both musically and thematically. We challenged ourselves especially hard on this record and on this song. We pushed every boundary we’ve previously had as far as it will go, then pushed a little more. ‘Something Wicked’ was the result.”

Breaking Benjamin debuted the song this past weekend at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. The track follows the stand-alone 2024 single “Awaken.”

As previously announced, Breaking Benjamin will headline a fall North American tour featuring Chevelle, Starset, and Kami Kehoe as support (pick up tickets here). Additionally, the band will play Sonic Temple this Thursday, May 14th, as well as Creed’s Summer of ’99 Cruise next year.
