Brennan Wedl Announces New Self-Titled Album Co-Produced By Katie Crutchfield & Featuring Snail Mail: Hear “Pretty Little Fantasy”

Brennan Wedl has been on the rise since we named her an Artist To Watch in 2024. Earlier this year, the Nashville singer-songwriter signed to ANTI- and opened for Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman's tour. More recently, she was announced as the opener for Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy's upcoming tour. Now, she's announcing her eponymous debut album, which is produced by Katie Crutchfield and Brad Cook.

Brennan Wedl features Snail Mail, Colin Croom, and Matt McCaughan on instrumentation. "The archetype of Daddy is something I've been searching for all my life, but turns out, the daddy I've been looking for has been me all along," Wedl says. "Be your own daddy."

The songs were recorded live in Durham as a band, and that can be heard on today's country-rock supernova, "Pretty Little Fantasy," which is adorned with a timelessly great hook: "What do you want from me?" It's much different from everything we've heard from her so far, but it's hard not to fall under its spell. It's an unabashed, feminist banger that's not afraid to come off as corny. "I'm not a girl, I'm a freakazoid," Wedl sings, and you just have to respect it. Watch the accompanying self-directed music video below.
