Cass Elliot Biopic Gets Its Star

In 2024, Owen Elliot-Kugell published a memoir about her mother, the Mamas And The Papas' Cass Elliot. Now, the book is getting adapted into a biopic for the big screen. Today, it was revealed that Jessica Gunning, who acted as the stalker in the hit Netflix mini-series Baby Reindeer, will play the music icon.

The film will focus on the singer's life, legacy, and music, and a press release emphasizes that it is "not a Mamas & The Papas biopic." It says it will also "[lay] to rest the long-standing urban legend of how she tragically died at the age of 32," such as the rumor that she choked on a ham sandwich. Emma Forrest is writing the screenplay, and there's not yet a director. It'll be produced by Veritas Entertainment, who worked on the Bob Dylan biopic.
