The Diddy trial is over but the saga very much continues. Cassie’s lawyer has spoken out about the controversial verdict.

As per HuffPost, Douglas H. Wigdor, Cassandra Ventura’s legal counsel, has responded to the stunning verdict that was issued Wednesday (July 2), regarding Diddy’s federal charges. While the legal professional was hoping the disgraced mogul would be found guilty on the more serious charges, he believes that some justice was served. In an exclusive statement provided to Newsweek he made it a point to remind the world that without Cassie charges would have never been filed. “This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023,” he explained. “Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution.”

Wigdor went on to applaud his client for her bravery in not only telling her truth but also taking the stand at the trial. “By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice. We must repeat – with no reservation – that we believe and support our client who showed exemplary courage throughout this trial,” he added. “She displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion. This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.”

After Sean “Diddy” Combs was found not guilty on the more serious trafficking and racketeering charges his legal team requested he be given bail as he awaits sentencing. That same day Cassie’s legal team wrote a letter to the judge urging that Diddy not be released on bail due to safety concerns. “Ms. Ventura believes that Mr. Combs is likely to pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as to the community,” the filing read. Judge Arun Subramanian ultimately denied Diddy’s bond request.

Diddy’s sentencing date is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 3, 2025.
