The tour dates marked the first from Trent Reznor in co. since 2022, and saw them deliver an impressive spectacle across three cities in the UK and Ireland over the past week. Dates kicked off at Dublin’s 3Arena over the weekend, before heading to The Co-op Live in Manchester and London’s The O2.
At the dates, the band broke out a visual display unlike ever seen before, and split the performance between two stages. One was the main stage, where they played their biggest hits, and the other was a smaller platform set in the middle of the audience, used to deliver deep cuts, acoustic versions, and remixes made with support act Boys Noize.
‘March Of The Pigs’, ‘Piggy’, ‘Closer’ and ‘Copy Of A’ were among the biggest hits to make it into most of the setlists, while deeper cuts included the first rendition of ‘The Warning’ since 2014, first of ‘That’s What I Get’ since 1991, and the first of ‘Ruiner’ since 2009.
Other new additions to the setlist included the first live performance of ‘Right Where It Belongs’ in Manchester – a cover of the 2016 track made by Reznor and bandmate Atticus Ross outside of NIN.
For the shows, the band worked alongside creative director Todd Tourso and MTLA.studio, as well as longtime NIN lighting designer Paul “Arlo” Guthrie. Handheld cinematography and immersive visuals were projected onto translucent fabric—foregoing traditional LED panels and video screens in favour of a 3D multi-layered environment.

The collaboration Boys Noize – usually held during the third of the four sets – comes as the producer and DJ has previously worked with Reznor and Atticus Ross on the score for the Luca Guadagnino film Challengers, and for their work on Oliver Stone’s Snowdon.
While the two gigs in Dublin and Manchester went down without fault, the slot at The O2 did see some minor technical issues, which led to the band taking short breaks and Reznor joking that he only had the ability to “stall” for about “30 seconds”.
The ‘Peel It Back’ tour has now completed its UK run of shows and will be heading to Europe for the remainder of this month and the entire of July. Slots across Europe commence tomorrow (June 20) in Germany, and will also include festival appearances at Portugal’s NOS Alive, Madrid’s Mad Cool and Poland’s Open’er festival. Visit here for tickets to upcoming shows.
The UK leg arrived as the members have been recently suggesting that new music is on the way. In December 2024, the frontman said that the band were “back in the driver’s seat” when it came to writing new material. The release could mark NIN’s first album since 2018’s ‘Bad Witch’, and the surprise 2020 ambient double album ‘Ghosts V-VI’.
Elsewhere Reznor and Ross have also announced details of Future Ruins, a festival designed to celebrate film and television composers. On the line-up is Danny Elfman, John Carpenter, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Cristobal Tapia de Veer, Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, as well as Reznor and bandmate Atticus Ross – who have composed music for the likes of Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network, Soul, Challengers and more.
