CKY have just released their first new song in four years, unveiling the track “Can’t Stop Running” without any teasers or advance promotion.
Self-described by the alt-metal vets as “a song for everyone — not just CKY diehards,” the four-minute tune is teeming with pop melodies and bass-heavy riffage, compliments of new bassist Mike Leon (ex-Soulfly, Cavalera). Sweeping synths also peak in and out, accenting the climactic chorus, while drummer Jess Margera pounds away for the duration.
“This song has been a favorite of ours since it was written and demoed, and has remained one of our favorites in our catalog,” commented guitarist and singer Chad I. Ginsburg in a press release. “It will be played on tour and we’re very proud of it. The video is coming and we couldn’t give a shit about anyone who doesn’t like it. The rest of the upcoming songs we will be releasing are all over the map — however, this one happens to be one of our favorites. It has the perfect happy/sad feel, and is a progression and growth in writing.”
The song, CKY’s first material since a pair of non-album singles in 2021, arrives ahead of a UK tour this fall. Dates kick off later this month, and you can get tickets here.
Looking ahead, CKY’s press release states that the band will be “firing on all pistons in 2026,” with “more to come.”
