Classic Call Of Duty games Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are coming to PlayStation next month.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops was originally released back in 2010 while a sequel followed in 2012. The beloved paranoia-fuelled games kickstarted a long-running franchise, with Black Ops 7 launching last year.
Fans can currently play the original Black Ops games on modern Xbox consoles thanks to Microsoft’s Backward Compatibility program and now PlayStation fans will also be able to access the classic shooters.
Last night (June 17) Black Ops developer Treyarch took to social media to confirm the rumours. “It’s official: the original Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are being ported to PlayStation in July, courtesy of our partners at Iron Galaxy. Both will include Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.

It’s not known if the games will be updated in any way, or just be straight ports of the original. Price, release date and whether the games will be available on the PlayStation 4 are all to be confirmed as well.
Fans are very excited though. “I have prayed for this day for years. I was 12 [when this was first released] and it was my favourite game of all time. Black Ops 2 is one of the best games to ever be made in my opinion,” wrote one X user. “This might go down as the biggest tweet in Treyarch history,” said another.
However Xbox players are concerned that if the port of Black Ops 1+2 includes fixes for several long-standing problems, they’ll miss out. “If these get fresh servers and the Xbox versions don’t get updated as well, this is an extremely bad look on Xbox. Because wtf do you mean a first party game isn’t gonna be properly playable for Xbox but will be for the competitors,” wrote one user on Reddit.
A brand new Call Of Duty, Modern Warfare 4, is due to launch in October. Fans will be able to access the single-player campaign mode one week before the full release on October 23.
In other news, Obsession star Inde Navarrette used to stream video games on Twitch and the rediscovered videos are going viral.
