CLUTCH To Record Their New Album In 2026

Good news! After playing quite a few new songs live over the course of the past year, Clutch is set to record their new album in early 2026. Or at least that's the plan right now, according to Clutch frontman Neil Fallon in an interview with Metal Hammer.

"We did begin a pre-production and writing session earlier this year, but then we went back out on tour," said Fallon. "There will be another writing session in January, and the plan is to record in late January or early February. Nowadays, from finishing a record to mastering takes up to six months.

"And the great thing about being our own record label is that if it doesn't feel right to put it out at that time, we won't. We'd rather wait and make it as good as it can be. That's where we are at. There are a number of songs in the can, but I'm not going to predict when it might be released."

Clutch is working with producer Machine on the new album, who has worked with Clutch on records like Psychic Warfare, Earth Rocker, Blast Tyrant, and Pure Rock Fury in the past.

The new record will be the first Clutch effort since Sunrise On Slaughter Beach in 2022. On the delay between records, Fallon added: "Every year it gets harder and harder to come up with stuff, because you already have these existing records, but… yeah. We know that [as an album] it'll be alright."
