CNN Commentator Claims 59-Year-Old Dean Cain Will Boost ICE Recruitment

Dean Cain, the 59-year-old former television star who 20 years ago played Superman on Lois & Clark, will boost ICE recruitment, CN conservative commentator Scott Jennings claimed.

Cain announced earlier this week that he would be sworn in and join ICE “ASAP.” The panel discussion on his choice took place on Thursday’s CNN NewsNight, Mediaite reports, with Jennings touting the impact of Cain and $50,000 signing bonuses. “There’s a massive amount of recruitment going on because they now have a huge amount of money to hire new ICE agents,” he said. “Having someone like that out touting it, talking about, ‘Hey, this is a thing you can do for your government, this is a public service,’ it’s going to help them recruit and they have a bunch of people to recruit.”

Others on the panel weren’t so sure.  “Scott, it’s not ’95. Nobody gives a Sam Hill what Dean Cain does,” Van Lathan said. “Dean ain’t worked in a while. Dean needs the $50,000. That’s what got Dean off the couch. Dean ain’t worked in a while. Dean gonna take that money and buy some crypto. Dean need the 50.”

On the one hand, this all feels slightly beneath the dignity of what is supposed to be a hard-hitting cable news channel. But ICE is the most visible manifestation of President Donald Trump’s immigration policy, and perhaps this is one way CNN can talk about big issues without sacrificing ratings.

Being in media today can be confusing. Maybe CNN should leave this to the professionals, like South Park.
