Jami Morgan of Code Orange has revealed that the band have gone on hiatus for “good reason”.

The frontman shared the news during a new interview, and revealed that while the band are still “really artistically fulfilled” by their 2023 record ‘The Above’, fans shouldn’t build up hopes for any new material coming soon.

“We don’t [have any plans], you know, Code Orange is on the shelf, and I think it’s there for a good reason, for many reasons,” he said during the appearance on the Nik Nocturnal Podcast.

“I think you can put two, two and four together, and you’ll probably come to the answer.”

Although he didn’t explicitly say why the band chose to put things on ice, he did explain that there were “many reasons” for the decision, and shared that they are still proud of the releases they made.

“If things were happening the right way, then we would have [continued]. But I felt that they weren’t, for many reasons, and so did others. And we said, ‘Fuck that. That’s not how we operate.’ We’re not gonna fight against the current here,” he said.

“I’m gonna die like a warrior on my shield, not like a fucking bitch, screaming and crying and kicking and moaning. So it wasn’t that glorious,” he added. “But at the same time, I think that the band will accrue love.

“There was so much art and love put into the band, dude, and so much thought. And I think that over time, hopefully that’ll accrue, and maybe the trends and stuff will come around and swing to it.

“I still 100 per cent believe it’s very forward-thinking, and I think it always kind of was, and I’m very proud of that. I’m very proud of it.”

The band’s last album was the aforementioned 2023 release, ‘The Above’, which was given a three-star review from NME upon its release.

“The album, frustratingly, proceeds on a perplexingly flat note. Clocking in at 14 songs, one wonders if the ferocity of ‘Grooming My Replacement’ could have completed a memorable 10-track collection, with the final few tracks lacking that consistent cutting edge,” it read.

“Then again, this is the bar that Code Orange have set. Continuing to innovate on ‘The Above’, their every left turn is a sign of an unequivocally purposeful band.”
