Jussie Smollett and Jabari Redd will be jumping the broom.
In the caption for the post that features a carousel of images, including one of the Empire star down on bended knee popping the question, Smollett wrote, “I’ll be spending my birthday with my Fiancé… He said YES.”
The other photos in the post reveal the shock and jubilation on Redd’s face as he is visibly emotional from the gesture.
Smollett’s two sisters, Jurnee and Jazz Smollett, shared their excitement at the news of their brother’s engagement.
“Screaming with tears of joy! My whole heart loves both of you @jussiesmollett. Welcome to the family @jabariredd. ❤️❤️,” Jurnee Smollett wrote in the comments.

Jussie Smollett’s Engagement Is Some Much-Needed Good News For The Actor
Smollett’s engagement comes on the heels of him settling a lawsuit with the city of Chicago following what they claimed was an alleged hoax attack.
At the time, Smollett claimed he was the victim of a hate attack, but prosecutors and authorities deduced the attack was a hoax or publicity stunt.
After a lengthy legal back-and-forth, Smollett finally agreed in May to donate $50,000 to the Building Brighter Futures Center for the Arts, bringing the saga to a close that he said “left a stain on his character.”
“Over six years ago, after it was reported I had been jumped, City officials in Chicago set out to convince the public that I willfully set an assault against myself. This false narrative has left a stain on my character that will not soon disappear,” Smollett wrote in a statement on Instagram. “The officials wanted my money and wanted my confessions for something I did not do. Today it should be clear, they have received neither.”
