David Harbour has dropped out of an upcoming film project due to being “overwhelmed” by the final season of Stranger Things.
The actor was due to film Behemoth!, a project directed by Andor creator Tony Gilroy and set to co-star Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde. The film’s official synopsis describes it as “a love letter to the music of the movies and the people who make it.”
Unnamed sources told Variety that the actor withdrew from the film as he “was overwhelmed by the series wrap of Stranger Things – a months long episodic rollout and global water cooler moment with intense press scrutiny – and stepped away from the project to rest.”
A representative for the film’s distributor, Searchlight Pictures, confirmed to the outlet that he had departed the project. Harbour is yet to comment on the departure.
The actor made headlines for numerous reasons toward the end of 2025. In October, Harbour’s partner, Lily Allen released the album ‘West End Girl’, which was inspired by the breakdown of their relationship.
One song in particular, ‘Madeline’, sees her construct a fictional character who Allen implies had an affair with Harbour, and in the song, she reads out what appears to be a voice note from Madeline to the actor. “I can’t trust anything that comes out of your mouth / I’m not convinced that he didn’t fuck you in our house,” she sings. Allen also made reference to the song in a Halloween post.
Since the album’s release, a woman named Natalie Tippett has come forward claiming to be the woman that was having an affair with Harbour.
In November, a newspaper report claimed that the actor’s Stranger Things co-star, Millie Bobby Brown, filed a complaint against the actor which led to an internal inquiry. Later that month, Brown played down rumours of a rift, insisting it was “really exciting” to work with the actor on the fifth and final season of the show.
