Deftones’ highly anticipated 10th studio album, Private Music, has arrived, five years after the release of the alt-metal act’s previous effort, Ohms.

Leading up to its release, the Sacramento band unveiled the singles “my mind is a mountain” and “milk of the madonna.” Both songs feature frontman Chino Moreno’s unmistakable soaring vocals, as well as the band’s familiar quiet-loud dynamics.

Private Music marks the band’s first album featuring bassist Fred Sabian, who replaced Sergio Vega in 2022. The rest of the band lineup is rounded out by longtime members Moreno, guitarist Stephen Carpenter, drummer Abe Cunningham, and keyboardist-turntablist Frank Delgado.

Deftones are supporting Private Music with a late-summer North American tour that kicks off on Friday (August 22nd) in Vancouver, Canada, and wrap up  September 17th in Kansas City, Missouri (pick up tickets here). Phantogram and IDLES will alternate as direct support, while The Barbarians of California will open all shows.

Additionally, Deftones are playing the US festivals Shaky Knees, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock, plus a couple of stadium gigs in Toronto with System of a Down. The band is also set to headline its annual Dia De Los Deftones festival on November 1st in San Diego.
