Tyler, The Creator thinks podcasts should be banned. He feels that most of them give a voice to those who shouldn’t have a voice at all.
As spotted on HipHopDX Tyler, The Creator recently was interviewed by The Cut. During the Zoom call, he discussed his recent work with Converse, his hobby of collecting, how his take on fashion has evolved and much more. During the conversation, he was asked about some comments he made to Billboard back in December about banning podcasts if he were ever to become president. “I think we give a lot of people who aren’t smart and just want attention platforms to be loud and incorrect, and other stupid people follow them,” he said.
“Where are the people with skills? We need electricians, we need more drummers, painters, teachers. Everybody with a mic is crazy. I just think that shit is gross.” Tyler added. Surprisingly, the “See You Again” performer went on to admit that he does tune in to a couple of select shows. “Deante Kyle is sick, and The Cutting Room Floor is sick. Those are two podcasts that are in the right direction,” he revealed.
Accordingly, writer Chinea Rodriguez asked him where exactly he gets his recommendations on culture and he made it clear he finds it on his own. “You know what happened? Everyone wanted to be everything. You used to go to a website that was specifically about this type of music and now they’re posting about shoes. Nothing is specific anymore,” he explained. “Everything wants to be everything, and everyone wants to be a part of everything. I don’t need to comment on sh*t that I’m not into. It’s not my style, so I don’t even pay attention to it.”
