The late rapper was also plotting his next business move, and it involved food, family, culture and a whole lot of good vibes. Here’s the story behind Tupac’s cafe dreams. Before Tupac’s untimely death in 1996, the entertainer had already sketched out plans for his own restaurant called Powamekka Café. According to his handwritten notes recently shared by Hip Hop N More, the spot was supposed to be “a passionate paradise 4 people with power 2 play and parlay.” Basically, Pac wanted a place where people could eat, connect and escape the chaos of the outside world. And this was not some random restaurant idea scribbled on the back of a napkin. Tupac had a full vision for Powamekka — including the menu, branding and atmosphere. He imagined it as a hideaway for people looking to “escape the worldz cold reality,” with Italian, Southern and Creole food inspired by generations of recipes and traditions.
