DISTURBED's DAVID DRAIMAN Invites GREEN DAY's BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG To Talk After His Pro-Palestine Lyric Change

4 days ago 8

Green Day recently made headlines thanks to some lyrical changes during their set at Coachella. While playing their 2004 track "Jesus Of Suburbia", Armstrong changed the lyrics from "Runnin' away from pain when you've been victimized" to "Runnin' away from pain like the kids from Palestine."

Predictably, this angered Disturbed vocalist David Draiman. Draiman has made his support of Israel very visible throughout the years, including with a controversial post in 2024 where he signed a bomb that would soon be launched.

"Open offer to #BillyJoeArmstrong from Green Day," wrote Draiman on X. "You know I respect you brother. I'd love to have the opportunity for you to hear the Israeli/Jewish side of this horrific war.

"I'm available to discuss whenever you are. No judgement, nothing preconceived. Let me know."

And fine, if Draiman wants to talk to Armstrong then that's his prerogative. But I can't imagine there are many surprises in store for Armstrong in that conversation, given he knows exactly where Draiman stands on the issue. That and "no judgement, nothing preconceived" kinda seems like Draiman has already made up his mind about how he feels regarding Armstrong's opinion.
