It was my final night on the island, and as Ibiza trips often go, one of the most memorable.

I’ve seen Dom play several times in recent years, but never on the island. It was all the more special as I first met him at this very club four years ago, back when he was still climbing global lineups. He was in the garden between the main rooms at Hï, casually chatting with friends. No entourage, no pretense — just a warm smile and easy energy that, even now, remains part of his presence.

More than a regular set, it felt like I was joining in on the celebration of his career and the tracks that landed him to this point. Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity to attend.

The sidewalks buzzed with clubgoers in festival ‘fits and beach-tanned party regulars, many of whom had been following Dom’s ascent for years. Ibiza’s midweek parties are often the most popular, and on this particular day, it was obvious that the venue would be packed to the brim for the special occasion.

On most nights at Hï, I tend to hang out in the garden and mingle, spending a lot of time bouncing between rooms eager to see each act, with the club’s famous bathroom, The Wild Corner, as my home base for raw house music. But since I was working, I arrived earlier than usual to take the time to venture out to each dance floor, knowing that when Dom arrived, it would likely be impossible to move around.

A Milestone at the World’s #1 Club

This year has been a landmark one for Dom Dolla, from sets at Coachella and Ultra Music Festival to a long-awaited debut at Glastonbury. His presence on global stages has been met with critical acclaim and an ever-growing fanbase, so I was curious to see him perform in an enclosed club after so many open-air festival appearances.

Known for its immersive setup, Hï offers a kind of production polish that speaks to its reputation. Colorful lighting and strobes beamed throughout the club, and to my delight, the visuals didn’t overbear the sound system.

Inside, the venue lived up to its hype of platforming good music in every room. Patrick Topping took over the Club Room, creating a full-venue experience that felt both curated and cohesive. The Theatre, the club’s larger main room, was already at capacity by midnight for Jungle‘s live set. As expected, Jungle’s performance was fun, light-hearted, banging, and loud at the same time — the perfect segue for the rest of the evening.

As his set came to a close, the red lights turned to dark flashing lights with Jungle standing at the decks, and on a longer track, he disappeared with Dom jumping into frame right on time for a perfectly curated superstar moment. “Ibizaaaa” rang out from his mic, and the club was suddenly filled with hands up and phones filming — forgivable for an incredible entrance that was too strong not to capture.

Dom’s set wasn’t just a showcase of hits. It was a reflection of the trajectory that brought him to this point. He worked in early-career anthems like “San Frandisco” and “Take It,” along with newer releases. Each track carried weight, not just as a club tool, but as a timestamp in the evolution of a sound with which fans have grown up. New IDs rang out, and although I’d been given stage access to capture media, finding a still spot to record was a battle between fans waving their arms, jumping, and belting out familiar songs.

From behind the stage to the dancefloor and all the way up to the tables, every drop was met with raised arms and open energy. Dom’s joy behind the decks was unwavering, his smile often matching the one featured on the club’s signage. Impressively — but not surprisingly — the club only seemed to get fuller and fuller by the hour, and from the stage, the VIP area towering above in the back looked as if it’d spill at any given moment.

Despite the scale of his career, Dom continues to bring an approachable energy that grounds his shows in gratitude. As I went around the crowds on the dance floors, the feel-good energy was contagious. It overshadowed the intensity of such a crowded room.

The audience embraced the smiling star as he came off the stage to wave and stop for pictures. Between a cheers with his friends and chatter among industry heads, I got to congratulate Dom, and he took the time to thank us for attending.

More than just a strong start to a residency, the night felt deeply earned and deeply personal for both the artist and the crowd. It’s a magical thing to see an artist soar to new heights in their career, and even better when its met with equal gratitude and humility from the artist themselves.
