Fontaines D.C.’s Carlos O’Connell and legendary DJ Don Letts are among the music figures to pop up in new Netflix comedy Too Much.
The show has been created by Lena Dunham (Girls, Tiny Furniture) and her partner Luis Felber, with all 10 episodes arriving onto the streaming service last Thursday (July 10).
It stars Megan Stalter (Hacks) as New Yorker Jessica, who starts a new life in London after a completely disastrous breakup and finds a new connection with Felix, played by Will Sharpe (The White Lotus). Emily Ratajkowski, Richard E. Grant and Adele Exarchopoulos co-star.
Viewers of the show may have noticed that a number of figures from the music world make appearances in the show, including Fontaines guitarist O’Connell as Eoin, who plays with Felix in the band The Feelers. In the show, The Feelers play songs by Attawalpa, the real-life band of co-creator Felber.
Elsewhere, Don Letts, once of the band Big Audio Dynamite and longtime radio and live DJ, plays Jonah The Ox in multiple episodes, a London club MC, and the band Sleaze appear in one episode, playing their real-life single ‘Push Tuck’, which is out now. Rita Ora is also one of the A-list stars that make a cameo towards the end of the series.
Check out some reactions below, as well as the show’s trailer and the video for ‘Push Tuck’.

Elsewhere, the show includes a number of ear-catching needle drops, including tracks by Julia Jacklin, Songs: Ohia, Miley Cyrus, The Wombats and Cate Le Bon. See the full list of songs here.
In a three-star review of the show, NME wrote: “Too much then, overall? Maybe, but also not enough in terms of focus. With some judicious pruning – of subplots and supporting characters that don’t quite land – this show might have been vital instead of merely amiable.”
Dunham does not appear in Too Much, but she has been keeping busy: she has also been working on a new romantic comedy film, Good Sex, which she has written and directed. The film, which currently has no release date, will star Natalie Portman as a successful couples’ therapist named Ally, who is freshly out of a decade-long relationship and nearing 40.
Dunham is also co-writing the new Broadway musical production of 10 Things I Hate About You. Carly Rae Jepsen is co-creating the score for the show, alongside writer and producer Ethan Gruska.
