Drake has confirmed that he’s working on a new album – see what he had to say below.

The Canadian ‘Hotline Bling’ rapper recently appeared on internet personality Adin Ross’ livestream on Kick, where they spoke about a myriad of topics. During the stream, Drake took some time to thanks his fans, dropping the news in a casual manner.

“Thank you to everybody that’s streaming the album. Every time, every journey. Working on a new album, it’s a slap,” he said. When asked by Adin Ross if it’s going to be a solo album, Drake replied with a simple “yeah”.

While little else has been revealed about the album – including its release date – it will mark the rapper’s first solo record since 2023’s ‘For All The Dogs’. That album arrived in October 2023, and on Valentine’s Day this year dropped the collaborative album ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U’ with PartyNextDoor.

Between the release of ‘For All The Dogs’ and ‘$ome $exy $ongs 4 U’, Drake spent a significant portion of 2024 beefing with Kendrick Lamar. Over the course of the beef, Drake dropped four songs, all targeted at Kendrick Lamar.

In late February, Drake postponed several dates on his Australian and New Zealand tour due to a “scheduling conflict” but was later seen front row at WWE’s Elimination Chamber event in Toronto after cancelling the tour.

In March, he began teasing his “next chapter”, which he says might leave fans “feeling uneasy”.

In a two-star review of ‘For All The Dogs’, Luke Morgan Britton wrote for NME: “At 23 tracks and almost 85 minutes in total length, ‘For All The Dogs’ ends up feeling at times like a slog, a feeling not helped by the artist feeling obliged to pepper the albums with long-winded intros, needless interludes and various faux-radio show skits… Hopefully he returns revitalised and renewed, because ‘For All The Dogs’- his third solo LP in as many years –  not only feels tiring, but sounds tired too.”

In other news, Drake was recently announced as this year’s Wireless Festival headliner, which will see him take over the prime spot at all three nights of the annual London music bash. The event will return to London’s Finsbury Park from July 11 to 13 and to mark the occasion, Drake will become the first artist to headline a festival for three nights with three different setlists.

The shows will be the rapper’s first UK performances in six years, and he will be joined across the weekend by artists including Burna BoyPartyNextDoorSummer Walker and Vybz Kartel. Tickets for the event are on sale here.
